Drawing parallels between Franciacorta and Champagne is always dangerous, but if we broaden our vision a little, we can find some things in common between Camilucci’s Franciacorta and Varnier Fanniere’s Esprit de Craie.
The first that comes to mind is certainly the stylistic rigour and the search for maximum purity. Secondly, the grape variety, which for both is 100% Chardonnay. Certainly Camilucci’s sparkling wine has more structure and power but Varnier Fanniere has more minerality and more freshness. Two fine interpretations of a noble grape variety.
The choice is yours.
