Denis Varnier’s Champagnes offer extraordinary lustre, superb elegance and tons of minerality (William Kelley Wine Advocate).
It is difficult to explain and summarise better than this the majesty of the wines of Varnier Fanniere, a producer from Avize, in the Cote des Blancs, which we have the pleasure and honour to import to Italy.
We want to play a game with you, to propose a valid alternative, among the products that we import, to the wines marked as ‘best drinks of 2024’.
In order to counter Michel Gonet’s magnificent Champagne, we had to bring out the ‘heavy artillery’. We bring you one of the most illustrious producers of Blanc de Blancs: Varnier Fanniere.
Varnier Fanniere’s GRAND VINTAGE Grand Cru Avize 2015 comes from the same vintage and common Grand Cru as Gonet’s wine. However, the interpretations are different, Gonet ‘playing’ with freshness and salinity, Varnier Fanniere showing instead the more austere and powerful side of Avize’s magnificent Chardonnays. Two opposite versions but both wonderful. Yet another proof, if it was not yet clear, of the enormous ‘imprint’ that the Vigneron can give to his Champagnes.
